How to read this library

Sub-Zero units monitor themselves continuously. When the diagnostics catch a fault, the display speaks: newer units spell out codes such as EC 40, EC 50, or EC 60, while many earlier units blink a number or show a Vacuum Condenser or Service message.

Each page below covers one code in depth: what the unit is flagging, which components are usually involved, the safe steps worth taking before we arrive, and how the repair is carried out. What every code shares: it is specific, it is stored in the unit's memory, and it is repairable. Note the code, keep the doors closed, and resist the urge to power cycle the unit — that can clear the very history that speeds your repair.

The library

Find the code on your display.

Seeing a code that is not listed, or a wrench icon with no number? The unit is still flagging a stored fault. Call (747) 777-5952 with the model number and we will read it properly on arrival.

Questions, answered

Before you call.

What is a Sub-Zero error code?

Sub-Zero units run their own onboard diagnostics. When the control system catches a fault, it shows a code — EC 40, EC 50, EC 60, a Vacuum Condenser or Service message, or a blinking number on older displays — and stores it for a technician to read. The code is the machine pointing at the failing circuit.

Can I clear an error code myself?

Codes can sometimes be silenced or cleared from the display, but the fault behind them remains and continues to progress. We advise noting the code and leaving the stored diagnostics intact — they make your repair faster and more precise.

How quickly should an error code be looked at?

Promptly. Most codes flag faults in the defrost, fan, or sealed systems, and each of those wears the machine harder the longer it runs uncorrected. Same day and next day windows are held across Los Angeles and Southern California.

Is the repair guaranteed?

Yes. One quote, one price, guaranteed repair, with no supplemental estimates, and the 3 Year Onyx Warranty covers parts and labor in writing.
